Some of the books i've read that contain mental illness - All the bright places, when we collided, we were liars, Beautiful broken things, Fangirl, Looking for Alaska.
My Thoughts - I honestly think that having mental health issues in YA books is completely fine, this is because I it can let people who haven't suffered know what it feels like to go through a mental illness on a day to day basis. It also expresses their thoughts on the problems caused. BUT!!!, As long as authors don't feel the need to be rude or make fun of mental illness's within their books, I think that they have the right to include mental illness if they wish. I suffer from a couple of mental illnesses myself, and I think reading it makes me feel a bit better, although it can make me cry, but I find it nice, I personally do enjoy it as it shows that not everybody is perfect it can also remind me that not everyone will feel the need to be rude to you over it. I admire authors that include mental health issues in their books in a nice, friendly way with the ups and down days, what it is like and the struggle that comes with it all. I also find it great that they leave helplines in the back of their books. Suffering from mental illness's are not the easiest thing to deal with as not everyone knows how to deal with what they go through, alot of people will go through it for the rest of their lives, sometimes with medication and/or councelling. You may be able to find a way to get over your illness but not everyone can find their own way to deal with it or someone willing to help them. Leave YOUR thoughts in the comments below, I would LOVE to hear what you think!!

As some of you may already know from my Instagram page, I have decided to leave Weebly.
Let me tell you why.... I am sad to be leaving Weebly, but I feel like now is the time to leave so I can give my followers the best content without hassle and problems. I have ben finding that I cannot post content on the go with Weebly. I have the mobile app but it never seems to upload my content properly and looks all messy and horrible. I also feel that Weebly isn't practical enough for me. Weebly takes a lot of time and a lot of preparation.. Don't get me wrong I like to have things prepared in advance! However, these past few weeks I have been finding it rather difficult.. I haven't had posts ready in advance. This means that I come onto Weebly and sometimes post my review and I can't see any spelling or grammar errors, this makes things difficult for me sometimes as I am honestly not the best speller.. I also feel that I am not giving all of you, my viewers, the best content that I can due to a lot of little problems going on and not being able to find Weebly practical for me. This is why I have decided to move back to Wordpress. So if you would like to follow me over to my new blog I will leave the link below.. If you wish you can follow me on Wordpress and get emails when I post on my blog! You can also follow me on Instagram where I also notify my followers about new content going live!! So make sure you are here to see it!! Going through a reading slump?
You may have been through one before. A reading slump is where you really want to read a book, but you haven’t been able to concentrate or pick the book for days, weeks or even months. Whenever you try to read your mind goes wondering off, your eyes start too close. You can’t seem to be finish any book you start if you just can’t find the book appealing. Reading slumpare dark and horrible times for avid readers, so in this post, I’m going to try to help you find ways out of your reading slump. These are things that I do myself, or have done some research found on the internet. So, let’s dive into some tips for overcoming a reading slump! 1. Reorganize your shelves – Maybe your shelves need a little tidy up, or you don’t like the way they currently look. Flip through your book titles, set them in a order (chronological, colour, smallest – tallest etc..) and maybe doing this you may find a book that looks and sounds excellent that you want to stop what you doing and give it a read (I know this has worked with me! 2. Switch to another genre – Maybe if you are trying a new genre, go back to your favourite genre. Or it could also mean breaking free of your favourite genre and trying something new. When reading gets difficult, sometimes a switch in theme and/or style can the change you need to get back into the reading groove. Who knows you may even find a new genre that you love! 3. Try something short – Why not try a novella, short story collection or a book of poetry. If you’re not feeling like reading something big, then take on reading some shorter books, it may be exactly what you need. Save the longer reads for a time you are ready to battle them. 4. Set the mood- Sometimes all you will need is a little set up. Light some candles up, make a cup of tea or coffee, then curl up under a blanket and settle down for a nice, relaxing time of reading! I have done this myself when I just don’t feel in the mood for reading, I love to light up a candle that smells lovely and brew a cup of coffee then settle down in a nice quiet place and read. 5. Trust your favourite author – Maybe you haven’t read all of your trustworthy authors books yet. Picking up a book you know that you will love could help you fire up your reading sparks. 6. Reread – On the topic of talking about trusting what you already know, a great idea could simply be to pick up one of your favourite books that you know, love and trust, whether you have only just recently read or you haven’t picked it up in months or years, one of your most beloved books can be the perfect place for you to start. 7. Watch a series – Yes that’s right, relax and watch Netflix or TV! Try watching something that is a literary movie or TV show that will work the wonders of inspiring you to read a book. Why not try – ‘The Jane Austen Book Club’, Reese Witherspoon in ‘Wild’ or why not try some book to movie adaptions such as, ‘If I Stay’, ‘The Martian’, ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ etc.… 8. Focus on writing – For those of us who are book bloggers. If you are stuck on reading, this would be the perfect time to focus on writing reviews and posts for your blog. Spark some new ideas for what to post. Then after that you may just feel like you want to sit back and relax with a book for a while. I know that this has worked with me so I hope this one helps bloggers out there too! 9. Reread the synopsis or read reviews – Why not try rereading the synopsis or read some positive reviews that you see on other blogs etc. This might just be what you need to motivate to keep you in the reading mood. 10. Visit your local bookstore – Taking a trip to your local bookstore or library and just take a look around. This may help you rediscover your love for reading and won’t be able to go back to read or you may find some new books that you really want to read. 11. Get inspired – Read some of your favourite bloggers, read their book reviews and check out the recommendation of books from blogger that you fully trust! 12. Or if nothing else works, just wait it out – I’ve found a few times that taking a break from reading and idea, they can almost overload you sometimes. Eventually you will find your love for reading and a book will call out for you to read and you will get right back into it again! I know that this is a fairly long post, but there are many options to try here and at least one of them if not more will hopefully help you get back into reading. Have you tried any of these tips? Leave a comment below and tell us if they worked and if you have any other tips for reading slumps! I will take notes to compare the book against the movie and give a SPOILER FREE review once I have read and watched them! What movies out of this list are you all excited for? Leave your comments below! I am Natasha Klein, though even calls me Tasha (I also prefer being called Tasha too!) I am 17, my birthday is in June and I was born in East London UK, but moved to Lincolnshire UK, when I was 1 years old. I have now lived in my current home for 16 years, however I also have a second home up in Yorkshire! Although there is now signal in the tiny village where my second home is, I love it none the less. I have 2 dogs (Alfie and Carter) and a cat (Hamish). I love them all the same, I would never be able to favorite one of the others. I used to work as a pet sitter. However, I have recently resigned from that job due to reasons. I LOVE to read, though i think love is a bit of an understatement, I can go through books like nobody’s business, but I love it none the less, this is the reason I now own a bookstagram and my very own blog! WOOHOOO!! I do sometimes enjoy making my own stories up, I am currently writing my own story at this time. If I’m not reading I will be writing or vice versa. I mostly read romance and fantasy books at this time, but i am hoping to dive into many, many more genres of books, which I can’t wait to give a go. Currently I am not a rep for any bookish businesses, but I am looking to be a rep for any company who is currently taking on. I am also trying to find a job in or around my local community relate to books (fingers crossed that I may succeed in my searching!!)
If you have any questions, comment below... I will also be hosting a Q&A, so any questions would be put in there. I would love to hear your questions whether they are about me, my blog, reading or any random questions! I will be happy to answer anything! Thank you guys, you are all amazing! Have a lovely day wherever you are! xx |
